Vietnam has granted a license for the commercial production ofan advanced coronavirus testing kits that can be completed in just one hour, according to Vietnam News.
The test was developed jointly by Viet A Corporation and the Vietnam
Military Medical University.
The technique combines the reverse transcription of RNA into DNA, and the magnification of specific DNA targets using a polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
The
testing system can detect new Covid-19 sample in specimens from the respiratory
tract and blood.
All tests done by the university and Viet A Corporation found that the kit passed standards as set down by the World Health Organization and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention standards.
The CEO of Viet A Phan Quoc said the company could make 10,000 kits a day. This would enable Vietnam to export the kit as well as cater to domestic demand.
Though Vietnam has only had 16 confirmed cases of coronavirus so far, over 14,000 people are being monitored, the report said
There
have been no new cases reported in the country since Feb. 13.

the Covid-19 death toll has climbed to over 3,380, with more than 3,000 in
China.
