Starting July next year 170,000 buses, coaches and mini-buses in Vietnam will be required to have two surveillance cameras inside, according to Vietnam News.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc approved the decree, and all owners will have to make the installation by July 1, 2021.
This new decree is in place to curtail dangerous drivers and stop buses from carrying more passengers than allowed.
It will be required that the recordings are sent to the police, traffic inspectors and licensing agencies ensure safety rules are being followed.
For trips less than 500 kilometers, the videos must be stored for at least 24 hours. For trips that are more than this the videos must be stored for 72 hours.
The cost of installing the cameras in the 170,000 vehicles will be around 1.5 to 1.9 trillion VND.
Taximeters in vehicles will also be verified by agencies and an invoice printing device must be connected.
Ride-hailing services
must send electronic invoices to passengers after the trip and also to the
local tax office.
