A hospital in Hanoi discharged 27 Covid-19 patients Monday morning, the largest single batch in the country, Vn Express has reported.
The
director of the facility, Hanoi’s National Hospital for
Tropical Diseases, said that all those released had now tested negative for the
virus on two consecutive occasions as per the criteria for release.
The discharged includes Nguyen Hong Nhung, the now infamous “Patient 17,” who was Hanoi’s first recorded case of the coronavirus and widely accused of kick-starting a second wave of the virus across the country.
Before
Nhung tested positive on March 6, Vietnam had gone 22 days without a single
case. Now a total of 194 cases have been confirmed across the country.
The
number of people discharged from hospital after treatment for the virus has now
reached 53.
Sixty patients
are still being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
Vietnam
has so far confirmed 194 Covid-19 infections. With Monday’s additions, the
number of patients discharged from hospital has jumped to 52.
The National Hospital for Tropical Disease is currently treating another 60 Covid-19 patients.
On Sunday
the government suspended all international flight to Vietnam and limited
flights, both-ways between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The
coronavirus had now been contracted by over 720,000 people worldwide in 200
countries and regions, killing more than 34,000 people.
