Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communications launched a website to fight fake news on Jan. 12.
The Vietnam Counterfeit Information Processing Center website (tingia.gov.vn), aims to detect, verify, identify false information and disclose authentic information.
The website will actively detect the content with a large number of shares and interactions to evaluate, verify and warn users, as well as instruct how to recognize, prevent, and deal with fake news.
Fake news will be labeled “Fake news;” while partially false or false beliefs will be labeled “Not the truth. News that the authorities concludes to be true will be labeled “Authenticated news.”
The website also has a hotline where the public can report fakes news as well as an online form.
Stories currently flagged up include a fake account of the National Hydrometeorology Center, a counterfeit VTC advertising traditional medicines as well as the posting of false information about police beating and detaining two reporters in Binh Duong.
The website’s license was granted on Jan. 11 and its director is Luu Dinh Phuc.
