The Vietnam Business Summit 2019, one of Vietnam’s biggest global business events, opened in Hanoi at the Daewoo Hotel on Wednesday, Vietnam News reported.

The summit is being held in tandem with the 10th Asia Business Summit (ABS) in Hanoi. The two events are organized by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry. VCCI Chairman Vu Tien Loc (pictured) gave the opening remarks at the summit, praising Vietnam’s recent record in enhancing its economic development and business environment.

The summit came on the same day that the IMF confirmed Vietnam’s GDP growth forecast of 6.5% for 2019.

The Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc is scheduled to be among the key speakers at the VBS 2019, which has pulled in 600 attendees, including 200 global CEOs of global and enterprises, and a large Japanese business delegation.

Themed “Vietnam-A Trusted Business Partner in the Digital Age,” discussions at the summit will concentrate on HR in the digital age, innovation in science and technology, and business opportunities in Vietnam.

“The event also provides a platform for business executives to share their success stories in Vietnam, and help local firms directly approach and discuss co-operation opportunities with 200 prestigious businesses attending VBS 2019, as well as the delegates of the upcoming ABS in Hanoi and members of the Japan business group coming to Vietnam in search for investment and business opportunities,“ Vietnam Investment Review reported.

The first Vietnam Business Summit was held in 2017 at the Apec Summit in the central Vietnamese coastal city of Danang.
