Starting Monday, 4 million students from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will have the week off due to the coronavirus epidemic, according to VnExpress. Students from kindergarten up to high school will have the time off. A number of universities and colleges have also cancelled classes.

School leaders have said that the well-being of students is the most important issue and one week off will not severely affect their studies.

Students have been enjoying Tet holidays from Jan. 20 to Feb. 2 and this week off will extend their holiday.

Apart from Hanoi and Saigon, 15 other cities and provinces will extend Tet holiday for at least two more days. This includes Vinh Phuc, Thanh Hoa and Khanh Hoa, which have all experienced confirmed cases of coronavirus.

There are seven confirmed cases of coronavirus in Vietnam and 92 suspected cases as Sunday. Of the 92, 27 are in quarantine awaiting results.

The global death toll from coronavirus has reached 362, all but one in Chna.
