The Ministry of Health has said that many localities in Vietnam have successfully fought the coronavirus outbreak, according to DTI News.
They have said that as of Feb. 17 Thanh Hoa had not had any new cases in 23 days and Khanh Hoa has not found any new cases in 30 days since its first case on Jan 17.
“Khanh Hoa has carried out preventive measures in accordance with the guidelines. We are working with the Khanh Hoa authorities to complete procedures, which will be submitted to the Ministry of Health’s approval to announce the end of the outbreak,” Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen said.
The province of Thanh Hoa has also only had one case since Jan. 24 and the localities hope that if there are no more cases in the next five days that the ministry will agree that it is the end of the outbreak.
The deputy minister said that authorities had done an excellent job of preventing the spread of coronavirus at Son Loi commune in the province of Vinh Phuc. There have been no new cases found in the last seven days. In Vinh Phuc, five people tested negative including a three-month-old baby who was being treated at the National Children’s Hospital.
Tuyen said: “Even though the results are good, we still have to keep a close eye on the development to implement measures that are suitable to the situation in each region.”
There have not been any new cases nationwide in the last week. Seven out of the nation’s 16 cases have been given a clean bill of health. Authorities have said they plan to open schools again. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said he was hopeful that the six final patients would be released from hospital soon.
