In the rural district of Soc Son, Hanoi police have found 620kg of used face masks inside a man’s house, VnExpress reported.

The man who had the masks was 24-year-old Nguyen Minh Nguyen. The police went to his house last Wednesday to find many sacks of the used masks, presumably intended for resale.

The man said he got the face masks from Phuc Yen Town in the province of Vinh Phuc, 40km from Hanoi. He then proceeded to store them at his house.

Son Loi Commune is located in Vinh Phuc and has been under lockdown since Thursday. Eight people there have contracted the coronavirus disease.

Since the outbreak of Covid-19 the demand for face masks has increased exponentially. Due to the demand a lot of drugstores have been fined for raising the prices of the masks.

Vinh Phuc has had most of the cases of coronavirus. There have been a total of 16 cases nationwide with 15 of the victims recovered. The last patient of Covid-19 in Vietnam was a 50-year-old man.

A locality will be declared free of the Covid-19 epidemic by the Ministry of Health if there are no new cases for 28 days and adequate prevention has taken place.

Worldwide the death toll has reached 2,400 and the amount of infections has reached 78,000, most of which are in China.
