Vietnam confirms no new Covid-19 cases for 48 hours

With Vietnam reporting no new cases of the coronavirus on Saturday morning, the country has now went 48 hours without a single new case.

The country now just has 70 remaining active cases, with 198 of the country’s 268 total cases having recovered after successful hospital treatment.

Vietnam’s last case was confirmed Thursday morning, a 16-year-old girl from the Hmong minority in a remote village in Dong Van District of Ha Giang Province in north Vietnam.

The improving Covid-19 situation in Vietnam will give succor to those hoping the government will relax it strict distancing measures, a near lockdwon in many cities, which is currently scheduled to end April 22.

The coronavirus had now infected 2.2 million people in 200 countries and regions worldwide, killing over 153,000.
