Hanoi students return to school after 3-month break

Students at secondary and high schools in Hanoi restarted school on Monday after a lengthy break due to the coronavirus epidemic.

Schools, which had been closed for three-months due to the virus, have reopened but students must now sit at least one meter apart, and follow strict safety and hygiene protocols.

Hanoi’s remaining schools and universities will reopen next week on May 11.

The country has confirmed 271 cases of the coronavirus so far, with the last case being registered Sunday, a 37-year-old British man who arrived in Vietnam via private plane on April 28.

A total of 219 patients in the country have recovered from the virus in Vietnam and been released from hospital after successful treatment. There has been no community transmission in the country for 19 days.

The coronavirus has infected 3.5 million people worldwide in over 200 countries and regions, killing nearly 250,000.
