Hanoi to consider organizing Thien Quang Lake walking street

Hai Ba Trung District Thursday proposed to organize a new walking street around Thien Quang Lake, VNExpress has reported.

The expected walking street would involve Tran Nhan Tong area (from Quang Trung street to Tran Binh Trong street) and surrounding areas (Thong Nhat park, the flower garden and street around Thien Quang lake, and the youth center).

The district is aiming to promote the area’s cultural and architectural value, thus developing tourism.

Vuong Dinh Hue, Hanoi Municipal Party Committee secretary, encouraged the district to deploy this idea as soon as possible, with a view to developing the night-time economy and improve the city’s image.

Hoan Kiem was the first district in Hanoi to develop a walking area, including the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake walking street and surrounding areas, in 2004. The second one was in Tay Ho District, with Trinh Cong Son walking street opening in 2018.

In 2016, Thanh Xuan District also planned to organize a walking street that integrated the night-time commerce and services on Nguyen Quy Duc street. However, the project has not got off the ground.
