Vietnam records 53 new community cases of Covid-19

Vietnam recorded 54 new cases of coronavirus Friday evening, including 53 community cases, one of which was a 2-year-old girl, Vietnam News has reported.

Forty-seven of the cases were in Hai Duong, three in Quang Ninh, two in Hanoi and one in Bac Ninh.

The 2-year-old patient is in Bac Ninh and the daughter of “Patient 1,565,” while the sole imported case was a 31-year-old man who had just arrived in the country as a returnee from Japan. He is quarantining in Ho Chi Minh City

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said it was a priority that Vietnam had vaccines for the first quarter of the year, at a National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control on Friday.

The country has prepared a field hospital with a 200 patient capacity in Chí Linh City, with 45 doctors and 70 nurses sent to work at the facility.

So far the country has registered 1,705 cases, including 35 deaths.
