Hanoi is bracing for a sharper return of winter, with temperatures expected to dip noticeably over the coming days. According to VietnamNet, a strong cold air mass moving south is forecast to push daytime highs down and bring early-morning lows in the capital to around 10°C, with colder conditions across much of northern Viet Nam.

The chill is expected to be most pronounced at night and in the early hours, when damp air and light winds can make the cold feel sharper than the thermometer suggests. Mountainous areas may see temperatures fall even further, while lowland cities like Hanoi settle into a familiar January rhythm of cold mornings and milder afternoons.

For residents, it means thicker jackets returning to the front of the wardrobe, hot breakfasts regaining their appeal, and the brief annual moment when Hanoi feels properly wintry. The cold snap is forecast to last several days before easing, though January, as ever, tends to keep its surprises close.
