Primate protection youth program launched in Hanoi
Hanoi’s youth stand together to preserve and protect Vietnam’s primates.
A program dedicated to protecting Vietnam’s primates was launched in Hanoi on Dec.15, DTI News has reported. The program aims to encourage young people to work together in preserving and protecting Vietnam’s primates.
The event, which took place Sunday, was organized by the Endangered Primate Rescue Centre (EPRC), the Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF)’s student union, the Green for Future Club and the Frankfurt Zoological Society.
Caroline Rowley, EPRC Director, said this program is a part of activities meant to support sustainable community-based preservation. The focus for this preservation is at Kon Ka Kinh National Park in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai, DTI News reported.
The event hosted a seminar on primate preservation in Vietnam and the world, as well as a contest themed “Primate Preservation in Vietnam – Challenges and Hope.”
The students participating in the seminar were given the chance to listen to reports on primate preservation, learn about the opportunities and challenges that the EPRC faces and talk about their own experiences in this area.
This program is a great way for students in Hanoi to learn and understand what they can do to help in the preservation work, Prof. Luu Quang Vinh from VNUF said.
