A woman returning from Europe has tested positive for Covid-19 in Hanoi, after Vietnam had previously went 22 days without an infection, according to Vn Express.
The 26-year-old Vietnamese woman is the 17th confirmed case in Vietnam, and she has been quarantined at Hanoi Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases No.2, according to the city chairman, Nguyen Duc Chung.
It is the first coronavirus case recorded in Hanoi.
The patient left Hanoi on Feb. 15 to visit family in England, she then spent three days in Milan, Italy before returning to England on Feb. 20.
Eight members of her family are also being held in quarantine at the hospital, though they have all been healthy and shown no signs of symptoms so far.
On
Friday, then Hanoi People’s Committee Friday afternoon set up a Covid-19
emergency response team for Truc Bach Street, where the case was recorded.
The
patient returned to Vietnam on flight VN0054, which carried 201 passengers. The
local authorities are authorities are currently trying to verify the names and
whereabouts of the passengers.
As of Friday, over 23,000 people across Vietnam were being quarantined at home or in facilities as a precaution

outbreak broke out in Wuhan City of Hubei Province in China late December last
year. The disease had infected over 100,000 worldwide and killed over 3,400,
mostly citizens of China.
