Vietnam registers 2 more Covid-19 deaths; 5 total

The Ministry of Health confirmed two more deaths from Covid-19 complications on Sunday, bringing the nation’s total to five in four days, Vn Express has reported.

So far, all Covid-19 deaths have been elderly patients with complicated medical histories and several existing health conditions. 

Patient 475 died of “acute coronary syndrome, cholecystitis, polyarthritis, hypertension and Covid-19,” while Patient 524 died of “septic shock, irreversible acute respiratory failure, and multiple organ failure with Covid-19 infection,” the report said.

There are currently 18 critical cases being treated, all linked to the central coastal city of Danang.

Danang has reported 104 cases, Quang Nam 26, Ho Chi Minh City eight, Quang Ngai two, Thai Binh and Dak Lak provinces one each, and Hanoi with two, all in the last nine days.

These fresh cases take the national tally to 590, with 373 completely recovered, 212 currently in treatment and five recorded fatalities.

The coronavirus has infected over 17.8 million people worldwide in over 200 countries and regions, killing more than 685,000.
