Vietnam records 2 more Covid-19 cases in Hanoi

Vietnam’s ministry of health confirmed a further two cases of the coronavirus Monday morning, both in Hanoi, according to VN Express. The country has now had 240 cases over the new outbreak.

Patients 1,818 and 1,819 are both women in their forties, residents of Tu Liem and Cau Giay respectively. Both were infected with the new coronavirus after contact with people infected in Chi Linh Town in Hai Duong.

Hanoi has now had 15 cases of virus in the most recent outbreak, and schools across the capital have closed.

Hai Duong Province, just over an hour east of Hanoi, is currently the biggest cluster of Covid-19 in Vietnam, having had 188 cases confirmed since the virus returned to the community in Vietnam on Jan. 28.

Neighboring Quang Ninh Province has had 25 cases, and infections have spread to seven other areas, including, including Gia Lai (four patients), Bac Ninh (three), Hoa Binh (two), and HO Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Binh Duong (one each).

Vietnam has now recorded 1,819 cases, with 362 active, and 35 deaths

The coronavirus has infected over 103.5 million worldwide and killed more than 2.25 million.
