As of this morning, Vietnam marks its 43rd day free of coronavirus when it comes to community transmission, according to the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control, Vietnamplus has reported.
So far, there have been 691 official domestic transmission cases, 551 among them came from the second wave of Covid-19 starting on Jul. 25.
A total of 13,659 people are still under quarantine due to close contact with infected persons, with 155 staying in hospitals, 12,320 in government-issued quarantine sites, and the rest at home or temporary facilities.
On Oct. 3, three patients were declared recovered, bringing the number of recoveries to 1,029. Right now, no patient is under critical condition, and the death toll remains at 35.
Those who enter the country are under strict supervision to avoid any new cases spreading to the community.
Life in Vietnam has resumed to its usual pace, with many businesses and schools having reopened. However, the Ministry of Health still urges people to follow preventive protocols, which includes mask-wearing and handwashing regularly.
Worldwide the death toll has reached over one million, with the virus infecting over 38 million people.
