A new positive test of the coronavirus has been recorded in Hanoi, according to the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC Hanoi), Tuoitre has reported.
The patient is a 21-year-old male student living in Cau Giay district, who had undergone Covid-19 treatment from Aug. 25 to Sept. 17 after flying back from Russia. He tested positive test again on Nov. 15, two months after being discharged from hospital.
On Nov. 14, the patient registered a high fever of 39 degrees Celsius and hospital for examination, testing positive for Covid-19.
After 2 weeks quarantine after his initial recovery, the patient went to school at Hanoi University. Currently, CDC Hanoi has preliminarily verified 25 people who have had close contact with the student, in order to supervise and check potential new cases.
It is considered a curious case as authorities have not yet confirmed how the patient was reinfected or any detailed information on the potential source.
Since Sunday, Hanoi has strictly required people who go to hospital, bus stations, on public transport, shopping malls, supermarkets and markets to wear masks. Failure to do so could result in fines up to 3 million VND.
Update: Originally this story said there was a confirmed case of coronavirus. It was in fact a positive test. A third test came up negative. As of 6 p.m. Monday, the patient has not been confirmed as having the virus.
