Vietnam recorded no new fresh cases of Covid-19 Tuesday morning, with the national total remaining at 271 and zero deaths, according to Vn Express.
The country has now not had a single cases of domestic transmission for 19 days. A total of 221 people have completely recovered from the virus, with 50 still undergoing treatment in hospital.
Twelve of the active cases are relapsed cases and can no longer be transferred to others, according to the National Hospital of Tropical Disease in Hanoi.
While still cautious, the country is slowly returning back to normal with many students returning to school for the first time on Monday after a 3-month break.
Vietnam has been one of the world’s leading countries in terms of containing the coronavirus, and underwent a relatively short “lockdown” period of 3-weeks.
The coronavirus is believed to have originated in China in December 2019 and has infected about 3.6 million people worldwide in over 200 countries and regions, killing over 252,000.
