Vietnam officially topped the 500 mark as Danang reported 45 new Covid-19 cases in health centers and quarantined buildings Friday morning, marking the biggest daily Covid-19 jump in a day, according to Vietnamnet.
This is the largest daily record since January, bringing the nation’s total to 509 cases, with 93 community transmissions in the last six days.
Late July 30, the Ministry of Health directed a special team of 65 experts and doctors and nearly 1,000 medical teachers and students to Danang for surveillance, treatment, testing and communication, the report said.
Since Wednesday night, Danang has shut down all non-essential services and all online orders from eateries. Hanoi and HCM city have also followed suit, closing all bars and crowded hubs.
Hanoi and HCM city have yet to issue social distancing orders. As the pandemic makes a re-emergence, over 50,000 people are self-quarantined or located at health centres in the country.
According to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, 369 cases (72.5%) have reached total recovery.
In Southeast Asia, Indonesia has recorded the highest rate of coronavirus transmission.
Vietnam has recorded zero deaths so far.
