Vietnam’s Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long has announced five more cases of Covid-19, with three in Quang Ninh, one in Hai Duong and one in Hanoi, VN Express has reported.
Over the past six days, Vietnam has recorded 276 cases. Hanoi alone has recorded 20 cases, and is one of the regions where the number of cases is increasing.
“Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam and the Ministry of Health started working with Hanoi. The situation in Hanoi is still complicated, and can possibly last longer than expected,” Long said.
Leaders of the Ministry of Health have requested the government to allow provinces to use their local budgets to purchase vaccines for the people, since it is more costly to provide funds for lockdown and isolation than it is to buy vaccines.
“There are only a few days left until Tet. Local authorities need to take measures to prepare an abundant source of goods for people to have a warm Tet holiday in the complicated Covid-19 situation,” the Prime Minister said.
