A colorful set of stamps were released by the Ministry of Information and Communications on Dec.12 issued to see in 2021, the Year of the Buffalo. The stamp set signifies happiness, reunion, luck, fortune to all and family ahead of the upcoming year, according to Baomoi.
The 2021 stamp set designed by artist Nguyen Quang Vinh includes two patterns gathered in one block.
In the first, an adult male buffalo carries baskets of fruits and Phrynium leaves (as known as Dong leaves, which are used to wrap chung cake – Vietnamese traditional cake for Tet Holiday) on his back while his joyful strong legs jog like they are floating on a field of flowers.
The second sample demonstrates a lovely mother buffalo and her calf putting on a yellow apricot coat. They are parallel on the road, tossing-up white dust with the mother adoringly eyeing her younger charge.
Meanwhile, the block background represents peach and apricot blossoms, and a five-fruit tray offering to heaven and the ancestors, with the wish of merriment and a prosperous year.
When the two stamps are put together, the buffalo parents’ tails will form a heart shape – symbolizing love and happiness.
With the stamps valued at 4,000 and 15,000 VND respectively, they are available on the public postal network until Jun. 30, 2022.
